God Is Sifting Even Now ?Wheat and Tares?Including In The Church

Joyce L. Shafer Thus speaks Christ our Lord to us: You call me Eternal, then do not seek me. / You call me Fair, then do not love me. / You call me Gracious, then do not trust me. / You call me Just, then do not fear me. / You call me Life, then do not choose me. / You call me Light, then do not see me. / You call me Lord, then do not respect me. / You call me Master, then do not obey me. / You call me Merciful, then do not thank me. / You call me Mighty, then do not honor me. / You call me Noble, then do not serve me. / You call me Rich, then do not ask me. / You call me Savior, then do not praise me. / You call me Shepherd, then do not follow me. / You call me the Way, then do not walk with me. / You call me Wise, then do not heed me. / You call me Son of God, then do not worship me. / When I [sentence] you, then do not blame me. *Carved into a cathedral door in a small town in Germany, translated by Dr. William Welty, and copied from Chuck Missler’s chapter in Blood on the Altar

Thursday night?s presidential debate format didn?t serve us well

Image
Anyone who habitually watches competitive team sports knows that it is vitally important for referees to stamp their authority early on in matches. If they fail to do so, contests tend to degenerate into chaos. While Thursday night’s debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump wasn’t disorderly, thankfully, it was largely devoid of substance. As I understand it, the debate format was meant to give the two candidates opportunities to articulate their views, without interruption, on some of their most important policy positions. That, in my view, assumed that both men have the discipline to stay on message. Everyone knows how the former president operates so this kind of set-up was asking for trouble. He spent the entire ninety minutes making all kinds of claims that went unchallenged because the moderators were mostly spectators, almost like the millions of us who were watching. But the main problem was that his opponent, who was supposed to hold Mr. Trump’s f

Color Me Confused

Image
For Immediate Release: Dateline: East Greenwich , RI Why do men insist on coloring their hair when they are well past the age of having such hair? Chris Cuomo, who is 76 and was part of the pre-presidential debate talk team on CNN, has a color of hair not seen anywhere else in nature. His hair should be grey or white, not a sort of decaying tree-bark brown. If it’s a hairpiece, then he should go au naturel. Al Michaels is a brilliant sportscaster, is older than I at 79, and his hair color resembles what I try to avoid stepping in after my dogs have been out in the yard in the mornings. Greg Gumbel, the sports show host, is 78 and looks as if his deep black hair has resulted from a tour of duty in a coal mine. These are highly talented men, respected and wealthy, and who are aging as we all do . Why can’t they be more comfortable in their own skin (and hair color)? I’m reminded of the fabulous Howard Cosell, one of the most original of all the sports commentators, who had a toupe

How to Dental Care with RADIUS

Image
Perfect for summer and all year around is RADIUS toothbrushes and dental care products. Theyve been around for awhile and have some really great products ,even for your dog! Here’s an excerpt of my interview with RADIUS. 1.) Why are the ingredients used in oral healthcare products so important, and what are some of the key features of the new Immune Support Toothpaste Collection? Specially selected Ingredients can strengthen enamel and prevent cavities, while antibacterial agents reduce plaque and gingivitis. Choosing non-toxic, gentle ingredients are essential to avoid irritation or allergic reactions, especially given the sensitive tissues in the mouth. Another aspect to consider is the ability a person’s oral mucosa has to rapidly absorb substances, making it vital that ingredients are safe and beneficial to prevent systemic health issues. The Immune Support Toothpaste Collection contains specific ingredients that address unique oral health needs, such as potassium nit

Unraveling the Mystery: Warmer Sea with Cooler Summer

Image
Why did sea surface temperatures go up when summer air temperatures did not? This perplexing question arose after last summer’s unusual findings. Ocean surface water temperatures off Boston, Portsmouth, and Portland were nearly two degrees Fahrenheit warmer than usual, aligning with the long-term trend of increasingly warm conditions primarily driven by climate change. To understand this, we must dive into the unique geography and ecosystem of the Gulf of Maine. This body of water is nestled between Nova Scotia to the North and Cape Cod to the South. Its connection to the Atlantic Ocean is only through a 60-mile-wide deep channel. This distinct geographical feature greatly influences the circulation and temperature of its waters. The Gulf of Maine is nourished by several rivers, including the Neponset, Charles, Mystic, Merrimack, Piscataqua, Saco, Kennebec, Penobscot, and Saint John. These rivers flow into this 36,000-square-mile sea, making it less salty than the Atlantic Ocean.

Doubtfire Goes Inferno at LA Premier

Image
Mrs. Doubtfire Theater Review By Michael J. Herman ©2024 The CriticAtLarge.com Mrs. Doubtfire. You mean the 1993 film starring Robin Williams? YES! The very same, has made its way to Broadway and has premiered at LA’s Hollywood Pantages Theatre. I have to admit, I was not excited to see this production. After all, my memory of the film was tepid at best. Nonetheless, I went without expectation of anything exciting and my mind was blown! This musical production based on the novel by Ann Fine tells the story of a struggling actor stuck in a dysfunctional marriage, yet committed to his family at all costs. The show’s main character, Daniel Hillard, faces struggles of unemployment, poverty, marital stress, and divorce, forcing him to take on the acting role of a lifetime; disguising as the hired nanny of his three children. Themes of betrayal, integrity, loyalty, and even points of sexuality weave themselves through this complex account. In recent years Broadway has brought u

Sneezing Has Both a Strange Medical and Religious Connection That Persists to This Day

Image
Why do we say certain things when people sneeze? There's a history connected to that. Anything that bothers the nerve ends in the mucous membranes of the sinuses can cause sneezing, which is called sternutation. When the skin gets irritated, it sends signals to the brain stem. The brain stem controls many of the body’s basic processes, such as breathing. After that, the brain tells the body to move immediately. As the body inhales hard, the glottis, a slit-like opening between the vocal cords, snaps shut. The eyes close, and the body contracts. After that comes the “achoo,” a strong exhale that has to go up through the nose because the glottis is closed. The exhale gets rid of the irritants. A sneeze can send out up to 40,000 droplets , many of which are full of germs and viruses. The droplets move at speeds ranging from 100 to 600 miles per hour . That is a quick and dirty way to do it. Sneezing is a natural response to an irritant in the environment or, perhaps, a cold you
