[PODCAST] Women Over 50 Are Not Done Yet | Geeks Geezers Googlization 4017

For Immediate Release: Dateline: Lehigh Valley , PA Friday, April 30, 2021   Plus Soft Leadership Styles Interview with Bonnie Marcus and Professor M.S. Rao, Ph.D [embedded content] LISTEN, WATCH, SUBSCRIBE WHAT TO EXPECT ?Working women have made impressive progress. But here we are in 2021, still arguing and fighting for equality in the workplace. Discrimination is still prevalent, although its execution might be a big more subtle. Just 20 years ago, S&P 500 companies claimed only 2 women among the elite CEO club. Today, 41 women are CEOs of companies such as General Motors, Best Buy, Walgreens, The Hershey Company, Oracle, Citigroup, and Clorox. But still, that’s only 8 percent of CEOs, while women make up more than half the U.S. population. Women made gains in the C-Suite too but are still outnumbered 17:1 . While much attention was justifiably directed to racial inequality in 2020,  its not the only form of bias and persistent di

May Day edition - Dale Irvin's Friday Funnies

Image
[embedded content] Today is the last day of April which means tomorrow is May 1st, also known as May Day. May Day is a holiday to celebrate the festival of spring and is very popular throughout Europe but not so much here, and I want to know why. May Day is a fun party with Maypoles and ribbons and dancing and drinking, so why don't we celebrate it here? Since our current president is opening up our borders, I think we should accept the holidays they bring with them. We already celebrate Cinco De Mayo so if we add May 1st as a holiday, we would potentially have an extra long holiday weekend. That's how it could be, #Dale4POTUS2024. As a public service announcement, Mothers' Day is only a week away. Do not wait until the last minute to get your mother a gift or you will wind up with a card you bought at the gas station and flowers from the neighbor's yard. 'Nuff said. There is no need to go shopping for the weirdest stories in this week's news, they're alr

The COVID pandemic is now wreaking havoc on countries like India, where the infection spread and ensuing illness and death are out of control. Here in the US, we appear to be moving in the other direction. Infection and hospitalization rates are dropping--due to mask wearing, social distancing, and most importantly, vaccination. Yet we are still averaging over 60,000 new infections and 700+ deaths per day--which translates to close to another 150,000 deaths within a year. That means we're not out of the woods. Some people look at these numbers and feel they don't need to follow through with their second shot. It's estimated that 5 million people have missed their second vaccination. Some of those may have had valid reasons and will likely reschedule. But the fact that so many people are shrugging off the second half of the vaccination is disturbing. While the first shot p

Hamilton Morris on Iboga, 5-MeO-DMT, The Power of Ritual, New Frontiers in Psychedelics, Excellent Problems to Solve, and More (#511)

For Immediate Release: Dateline: San Francisco , CA Illustration via 99designs “It’s a very widespread idea that, if you have personal experience with a psychoactive drug, this biases you in such a way that the research that you do is not trustworthy. But this is something that we don’t evenly apply to other disciplines. No one would ever say that an ethnomusicologist is biased because they’ve listened to music, or because they enjoy music themselves. Or that a sports commentator is biased if they have a past as an athlete. Instead, we would say that this is something that makes him an expert who is qualified to discuss the subject.” — Hamilton Morris Hamilton Morris ( @HamiltonMorris ) is a chemist, filmmaker, and science journalist. A graduate of The New School, he conducts chemistry research at The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Hamilton is the writer and director of the documentary series Hamilton’s Pharmacopeia , in which he explores the chemistry and trad
