Image
Los Angeles, CA — Within the realm of serial killer biographies, there are a number of factors which limit achieving a completely in-depth and well-rounded portrait. Without Redemption: Creation and Deeds of Freeway Killer Bill Bonin, His Five Accomplices & How One Who Escaped Justice has achieved something non-fiction serial killer books rarely do—truly finding large and small events which created the serial killer to come while also peering into Bonin's mind, during and after the murder spree, through his own writings and confidential interviews with co-author Vonda Pelto, Ph.D., who met with him on many occasions while working at Los Angeles Men's Central Jail. A massive number of investigative documents, collected by many different law enforcement agencies, allowed Pelto and Michael B. Butler to create a detailed account of Bonin's life up until he was given the death penalty. One of the tragic aspects is how many times Bonin slipped through the system, arrested

Lessons From Summit Consulting Group, Inc. -- Alan Weiss, Ph.D.

For Immediate Release: Dateline: East Greenwich , RI I was the “relief pitcher” in church last evening when the scheduled lector was ill and I was asked to fill in at the last minute. All went well (I believe that too much practice makes us “stale” and takes off the edge). On  the way out after Mass a man I don’t know stopped me and told me he thought I had done a terrific job. I thanked him and he said, “You must be a teacher.” I thought for a moment and said, “Well, yes, I am.” “I knew it!” he said, and we went on our way. Remember when it was assumed that teachers were superb professionals, were respected, and provided great role models? My wife, sister, and niece are or were teachers. People were proud their kids were becoming teachers. Talk about a change in society…. Positivity in Sales: A Choice, Not a Feeling

Image
Article by Colleen Francis , August 24, 2022 Positivity in sales is a choice, not a feeling. It doesn’t require much effort to feel worried about the state of the world these days. And if you’re already feeling that way, you’ve got company:  stress levels today are high  across a large swath of society. I hear it in the questions I’m fielding at conferences:  How can I stay positive amid so much uncertainty? Here’s the answer: the same way you stay positive in any other time. You must make a choice. It’s not the events themselves, but rather our judgment of them that hurts us . That’s a rough paraphrase of timeless wisdom by Epictetus. His 2,000-year-old observation makes just as much sense today: we never run out of  problems  or things to worry about. But as sales professionals and leaders, we must set a positive example for others to follow—especially when we’re prone to giving in to our stress and worries. Positivity in Sales: Here Are 7 choices You Must Make Every Day 1. C

Macy?s Is Anticipating $1 Billion in Toy Sales. Can they do it?

Image
Macy’s bet that adding a known retail brand like Toys R Us would jump-start its re-entry into the toy business. The bet appears to be paying off. Macy’s had decided to move from its initial experimental approach to Toys R Us to a full embrace. The company has announced that it will have Toys R Us departments in all stores. But can Macy’s generate $1 Billion in toy sales? Company Charimand and CEO, Jeff Gennette thinks so. Here is his comment during the company’s earnings call on August 23, 2022. He stated: We recently announced that by October 15th, we will expand our exclusive Toys R US partnership to include every Macy’s location, just in time for the holiday and gifting season. We’re encouraged by the customer response in the current store locations, and we’re seeing an improved sales trend in our Kids’ business, which typically sits next to Toys R US stores-within-store. T oys is a huge opportunity for us with a fair share of market opportunity of $1 billion in annual sales.
