Bad News ? Yellow Freight Is Declaring Bankruptcy, Good News ? UPS Strike Is Off

Yellow Freight

Yellow Freight has told its employees that it is declaring bankruptcy on Monday. Yellow is the US’s third largest LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipper and employs over 30,000 people.

This is not good news for any company that ships less than truckload LTL shippers are an alternative to Fed Ex or UPS if you are shipping over 150 pounds but less than a full truckload. Here are some alternatives to Yellow:

SAIA Inc.

UPS Strike Is Off

Whoooo, that was close. The Teamsters were set to strike against UPS on August 1 unless there was a settlement. The two sides had not held talks for three weeks, so it didn’t look good.

However, they did settle. Rank and file still have to vote on it, but it is expected to pass.
What we did not need was for Yellow to go bankrupt and UPS to go on strike at the same time. So, good news.
