On most sports shows today, there is a woman included in the group (when there are just two people, one is usually a woman). I find almost all of these women extremely well prepared and interesting in their analyses. More often than not, they are the facilitator with a group of men, usually former players or coaches.
Why is it, I wonder innocently, that the men’s fashion today is, even with suits, to wear comfortable athletic shoes/sneakers, with think rubber soles and canvas or soft leather tops, and the women are staggering around in quite obviously uncomfortable stilettos? Why is it that the men can dress comfortably (they don’t always wear jackets and ties) but the women almost always wear dresses, usually short ones or with slits up the side?
Is this really “inclusion” or is it sort of highly customized inclusion?! (The dreadful, unnecessary football role of “sideline reporter” that women had been relegated to fill now sometimes sees a man on the sidelines in a nod to equality, when they could just eliminate the role altogether.)
Maybe it’s a non-issue, but maybe it’s a stadium full of hypocrisy.
