Do You Want to Know the Secret to Conquer Your Jitters When Speaking?

Image
For Immediate Release: Dateline: San Francisco , CA Here is the good news. Your audience will not know how you feel; they will only see how you act. Delivering Your Speech Is More Than the Words You’re waiting your turn to deliver your presentation when suddenly you realize that your stomach is doing flips and your mind is rapidly going blank. How do you conquer the jitters? People often ask me this question, and there is no single answer to it. The secret is to prepare mentally, physically, and logistically. Mentally Begin by understanding that you’ll spend a lot more time preparing than speaking. As a general rule, allocate three hours of preparation for a half-hour speech, resulting in a six-to-one ratio. When you’ve become a highly experienced speaker, you might be able to cut your preparation time. Until then, don’t skimp, because preparation is critical to success, even for skilled speakers. Part of your preparation will be to memorize your opening and closing lines. Reh...

Do You Know the Many Forms of Dementia?

Image
There isn’t one or two forms of dementia, but several, and they are confusing to everyone. Photo by Mario Heller on Unsplash The number of people affected by dementia is staggering and growing rapidly. Currently, 7.2 million Americans aged 65 and older have Alzheimer’s disease, projected to reach 13 million by 2050 . Over 1 million Americans have Lewy body dementia. Women are disproportionately affected, making up about two-thirds of Alzheimer’s patients, partly because they tend to live longer than men. African Americans are twice as likely to develop dementia compared to whites, while Hispanics are 1.5 times more likely. The lifetime risk of developing dementia after age 55 is estimated at 42 percent for all Americans, which is much higher than previously thought. And the economic impact is enormous, with health and long-term care costs for people with dementia projected to reach $384 billion in 2025 and nearly $1 trillion by 2050 . Dementia's impact is vast, affectin...

The Ecumenical World of Music

Image
For Immediate Release: Dateline: East Greenwich , RI Sunday, July 20, 2025   I just saw an AI-generated list of the top 20 single records of all time, and three were Christmas songs (not “holiday songs,” as Brown University would probably rename them). The top of the list was “I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas,” which with some irony, was written by Irving Berlin, who was Jewish, and was living in LA where he wouldn't be expecting any snow! (Mariah Carey and Gene Autry had the other two.) Adblock test (Why?) source http://www.expertclick.com/NewsRelease/The-Ecumenical-World-of-Music,2025311465.aspx

Your Unique Idea Can Transform Professional Growth

Image
Photo by Geralt via Pixabay Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Your Unique Idea Can Transform Professional Growth  While students are excited about graduating, the excitement often dims with the realization of little recognition in the corporate world, particularly those who don’t fit the ‘traditional mold.’ To advance to the point of finding reward in one’s endeavors, it’s critical to learn from every error, person, conflict, and most of all, our thinking and what might need to change. However, it’s also critical to be resolute in embracing one’s ethical standards and desires and to do everything possible to transform professional growth in our favor. Still, by reminding oneself daily of our purpose and the desires ahead, we can be motivated to learn all the lessons before us to advance into a much preferable role. For insights, read, ‘Your u...
