Your 2024 Speaking Goals

Image
For Immediate Release: Dateline: Centreville , VA “All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.” – Earl Nightingale, American radio speaker and author Well, it is the night of the last day of 2023 (December 31, 2023) – New Year’s Eve for 2024. So, where are you going with your speaking in 2024? Have you set your 2024 speaking goals? One of my mentors, Earl Nightingale, says all achievement humankind has experienced throughout its existence owes its accomplishment to setting goals. I will go further, to which I believe Mr. Nightingale would agree. In order to achieve your goals, you need to (1) create the goals, (2) create actionable plans to realize your goals and act on those plans, and then (3) periodically status these actionable plans to determine if you need to make “course corrections.” Each of these essentials for accomplishing your goals is explained in detail below: Create Your Speaking Goals Setting speaking goals for 2024

Creative Team-Building Encourages New Ideas

Image
Pexels – CC0 License Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Creative Team-Building Encourages New Ideas The notion of a mandatory “team building day” can strike both excitement and hesitancy in the emotions of your staff members. Excitement, because a day away from the office or workplace (while still getting paid) is a novelty to appreciate. Hesitancy, because often these days can be long, drawn out, and a little uncomfortable. Heading to an activity center with a team might feel a little too much like going on a school trip, which can feel tiresome as an adult. So, is there an approach that  will  rely on something other than formulaic approaches? Bringing your team together is certainly one thing, but doing so in a manner that won’t roll their eyes is another. Moreover, the formulaic idea of people having to come together to canoe, stack blocks together, or play word games in a circle can feel pointless, as fun as it is. We don’t mean to sound dour, of course, only you may have in

A New Black Market for Selling and Buying Stolen Facebook Groups

Image
Facebook and other social media account holders have another thing to worry about. Their Facebook groups and their account can be stolen, and then it can turn up for sale on the black market.  And the owners of accounts on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and other social media platforms can lose their groups, too.             It's totally illegal, but these groups are selling for hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars, depending upon how many group members there are.  Then the new owners can monetize these groups by marketing, advertising, and promoting products and services to the newly acquired members.  Or worse – they can seek to gain emails and personal information from the members, so they can scam them for money or access their computers.             That's what well-known author Gini Graham Scott discovered after her own Facebook group was stolen. As a result, after writing several previous books about scams, including The Big Con, I Was Sca

Looking Ahead Is Often Most Effective By First Looking Back

Image
For Immediate Release: Dateline: East Greenwich , RI Maybe on Dec. 30/31, instead of looking at what’s ahead and making usually-failed resolutions, we should for a change look in the rear-view mirror at the past year and determine what we should build on still more, what we need to change, and what we need to stop doing. Those may appear to be “resolutions” but they’re actually determinations based on the empirical evidence of our success or lack thereof in various pursuits in the recent past. We’re not supposed to look at the wake of the boat, but that’s where I’ve seen both things that have fallen overboard and porpoises that are leaping with joy. Our refusal to look at the past is also our refusal to learn from it. Your choice. Chapter 17: Becoming Bigger Parts In Local Communities

Image
Gen-Z wants to feel good by being seen as virtuous and helping others. The military needs to show how they are directly giving back to their local communities.   Solution: Through co-working and co-living, the military can better integrate with the various communities it supports.     An area of the economy that has grown exponentially during Gen Z's rise has been the sharing economy. Also described as "gig-work" such as ride services like Uber and apartment rentals like Airbnb, Zoomers are accustomed to interacting freely with strangers. Over 30% of U.S. adults aged 18-29 report having done some gig work. [1] Furthermore, a majority report spending less than 10 hours in a typical week performing these tasks. This increase in fluid interactions has promoted a much more interconnected community. While the tenet that "every person's home is their castle" still rings true in the American psyche, a more modern, Z-adapted view of communal life would be tha

Miriam Makeba: A Melody of Resistance Against Apartheid

Image
For Immediate Release: Dateline: Dallas , TX Thursday, December 28, 2023   With a voice as rich as the South African veld and a spirit as unyielding as Table Mountain, Miriam Makeba wasn’t just a singer; she was a weapon against apartheid. Her music, steeped in the rhythms of her homeland and pulsating with defiance, became an anthem for millions fighting for freedom. While apartheid cast a long shadow over South Africa, Makeba’s melodies shone through. Hits like “Pata Pata” and “The Click Song” transcended borders, carrying the joyous spirit of her people along with subtle barbs against racial injustice. This wasn’t simply background music; it was a soundtrack for revolution. However, Makeba’s weapon had a target, and apartheid didn’t take kindly to its songs. In 1960, her passport was revoked, trapping her abroad. Undeterred, she became a voice for her silenced nation on the world stage. From Carnegie Hall to the United Nations, she sang of the brutality and discrimi

Make A Team Victory Your Ultimate Goal

Image
Photo by Geralt Attract the Right Job Or Clientele: Make A Team Victory Your Ultimate Goal Whether an entrepreneur, manager, or CEO of a large corporation, unless you make a team victory your forever goal, there will be much costly turnover. So, how can you accomplish team unity that begets loyalty? My Story It wasn’t until my fourth job that I felt treated as an equal to the sales men , but only after I spent most of the year proving my ability while earning money solely on 100% commission due to the horrific pay inequity.  By the end of the year, President’s Club and recognition were finally mine and highly enjoyable. However, the glory quickly faded upon realizing  ‘Here we go again’  upon the company selling to another corporate conglomerate with unspeakable pay inequity. In the entrepreneurial sector, each person needs to be wary of requests, particularly those that appear one-sided. My philosophy is to ‘speak up or forever hold your peace.’ However, speaking up to resolve

Our Quality of Life and Brain Development Reside in Our Gut

Image
Genetics and our environment are now taking a back seat to what appears to hold sway over our mental health and our intellect, and it’s in our gut. Research over many decades has been vigilantly trying to parse out what makes us who we are, how we feel, and what forges our intelligence , and now they seem to have found the key— our gut health . No, it’s not as simple as eating “ an apple a day ,” but the correct route to health and happiness and what lies in our body’s internal workings make all the difference, with diet being the premier force . Naturing this font of health is now becoming one area of medicine, assuming new importance. Some are saying it’s the future of medicine and medical prescribing. It seems that every week, a discovery is made about our gut and its incredible involvement in all aspects of our lives. Individuals with social anxiety are reported to be more likely to be bullied , more likely to drop out of school early , and more likely to have inferior creden
